***IMMEDIATE NEED: Building Automation System Controls Programmer***

We are actively seeking a qualified DDC Tech / Programmer / System Integrator to join our team, with experience using the Alerton, Distech, Siemens Talon, and  Tridium-Niagara platforms.  This individual will utilize programming tools, standards and procedures, and their knowledge of HVAC & building systems and applications to develop program instructions for DDC controllers and graphical front-end user interfaces.  The BAS programmer will work alongside Project Managers, System Engineers, and Field Installers to fulfill the project requirements. Programming will include setup of user interface and/or browser based systems using Tridium/Niagara. The ideal candidate will be able to incorporate a sequence of operation into a device and/or workstation application that meets all project requirements.  The BAS Programmer is responsible for creating such computer programs by converting project sequencing requirements into code as well as modifying, troubleshooting and repairing existing programs for commercial HVAC environmental control systems.  This role will additionally require system integration along with control startup & checkout, commissioning and project closeout.

Role Expectation:

  • At the highest level, program Building Automation Systems.
  • Convert project requirements into computer program code… use Direct Digital Control (DDC) code creation for: sequencing, trend logs, zones, alarms, reports, back-up, and graphics.
  • Confirm program operation by conducting tests and modifying program sequence.
  • Coordinate details & time-frames of the startups with mechanical/electrical/general contractor on site.
  • Must verify functionality of DDC controlled components.
  • Must perform equipment and system testing, installation, inspection, troubleshooting and problem determination, control panel wiring and checkout, and repair of computer automated control systems.
  • Startup and commissioning will consist of field device inspection, testing and calibration, hardware operation verification, software configuration programming and testing of equipment sequence of operations.
  • Performing service and repair on existing DDC systems.
  • Utilize a multimeter for advanced system diagnostics and tracing out wires & circuits
  • Preparing and submitting any required commissioning documentation.
  • Documenting all changes related to as-built drawings.
  • Assists personnel with solutions to systems problems, either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems.
  • Provide consistent and clear communication with internal and external customers.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout development, construction, and project commissioning phases of projects.
  • Lead and manage the coordination of integration activity and providing technical support of DDC based hardware and software including working with other engineers to create and/or verify control and integration point lists.
  • Conduct graphics engineering functions which include: creating graphics submittal packages as required, reviewing graphics as a completed package, for completeness and accuracy, develop and maintain graphic library, and participate in solution of job-related graphic problems.
  • Creating and maintaining backups of customer databases in accordance with company procedures.
  • Set up and configuration of PC Workstations, user interfaces, data servers, IP Networking devices, protocols, routers, switches, mass storage devices and hubs. Confirms proper network performance.
  • Coordinate startup services: Work with customer’s IT Department to coordinate network drops, ip addresses, and monitoring tools. Work with equipment vendors to coordinate communication protocols and any requirements to integrate with their systems.
  • Train customers on system operations.
  • Attend routine progress meetings with the client, vendors or subcontractor to discuss project updates, concerns, and resolution of issues.

Qualifications & what you need to be successful:

  • We are looking for someone who easily adapts to new worksites and projects quickly, as priorities can change based on workflow and urgency of customer need.
  • Understand this is a hands-on technical position that requires use of a laptop, hand tools and multi-meter performing startup and commissioning of computerized temperature control system, which controls HVAC equipment such as roof top units, air handlers, VAV boxes, heat pumps, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, boilers, heat exchangers.
  • Experience with BACnet, LON, Modbus, Alerton, Distech, Visio, Tridium, Niagara, or other Building Automation Systems is a requirement.
  • Technical school or Associates degree (2 year) preferred, although a combination of education and experience will also be considered.
  • Above average computer skills required
  • IT experience is a strong plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Field experience in service & repairs of HVAC equipment.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, low voltage controls & building automation systems.

*** Controls System Installation Technician***

Position Summary:

The candidate will be working as a team with fellow ECT Team Members, clients and subcontractors to ensure that all projects are completed on time and on budget. This role will engage you in the installation of the infrastructure, wire support systems, cable, and conduit on Building Automation Control Projects. You will install panels, controllers, field devices & components of the systems… and provide final termination of all cabling to ensure a complete installation of the control systems. This role will also have the opportunity to work with the programmers and commissioning agents to test and troubleshoot the systems. Finally, as we empower our Team Members to make decisions that correspond with our vision, mission and core values… this person is expected to meet performance standards as set by ECT Services, demonstrate initiative, and take ownership of their projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Read, review and follow project related documents such as blueprints, drawings, project scope, budgets, deadlines, and sequence of operation for proper execution requirements
  2. Installation and termination (and addressing) of panels, controllers, field devices, cabling and other components of the Building Automation Control Systems.
  3. Install & connect power to equipment, panels, and components as required
  4. Label any and all installed wiring
  5. Troubleshoot and repair circuits, wiring, devices, and networks (know how to use a multimeter)
  6. Installation of conduit and cabling management & support infrastructure systems
  7. Work with Programmers and commissioning agents to test and troubleshoot system operation
  8. Provide trust & leadership to your whole team… and the customer!
  9. Coordinate material and ordering requirements with Project Managers
  10. Maintain & manage your material stock for the project… as well as your equipment (such as tools, ladders, drills, gangbox, etc)
  11. Build & wire microprocessor control panels for all projects (in-office or in-field)
  12. Update As-built drawings as needed
  13. Attend job site meetings to represent & discuss work flow, scheduling and progress

Qualifications:

Candidate should have electrical experience (120VAC, 12VDC and 24VDC)… preferably with low voltage control systems (Temperature controls, maybe even Security systems), ladder logic, relay logic, controllers, and field controllable devices. Any experience with Siemens, Johnson Controls, Alerton, Honeywell, Automated Logic, etc. systems and controllers is a plus. The ideal candidate should also be proficient with computers & Microsoft Office software applications, and possess a networking knowledge base.

This position requires a high school diploma or higher degree of education & training. A Journeyman or Master electrical license is a plus, but not required. Knowledge of electrical codes is expected. The candidate must be able to learn and follow sequence of operations for projects in this industry. It is necessary that the candidate be very detailed oriented in their work ethics and have a good leadership aptitude. To be successful, the candidate should have the ability to accurately and calmly handle multiple priorities (with interruptions) and still meet deadlines. Candidate should be creative, and a self-starter with good organizational &time management skills. The candidate must possess great communications skills, both written and verbal. It will be expected that the candidate can work either independently, with minimal supervision, or in a team atmosphere… have take pride in their work and accept responsibility. Additional Notes:

*** Integrated Service Technician***

Position Summary:

At ECT Services Inc., as an Integrated Service Technician you will be a troubleshooter and service expert on various low voltage systems such as video surveillance, intrusion alarm, access control and fire alarm systems. This position is responsible for addressing and alleviating any concerns the customer may have regarding a security or fire alarm system within their facilities. This position will be required to perform periodic maintenance and inspections of all types of fire and security equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring.
  2. Readjust equipment, repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation.
  3. Read blueprints, building, electrical, and sprinkler plans to complete equipment repairs.
  4. Prepare trouble order forms to report temporary repairs.
  5. Coordinate inspections and/or installations with police, fire departments, or other appropriate agencies.

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Technical Degree preferred
  3. Certified to test Fire Alarm Systems in Kentucky preferred

Minimum 10 years of experience installing and inspecting/repairing Integrated Security and Fire Alarm systems. EST and or LENEL (preferred) or comparable product line.

    1. Advanced knowledge of the principles of electricity, electronics, complex and highly integrated electronic systems;
    2. Extensive and demonstrated knowledge of the installation, maintenance, repair, upgrading, integrating, troubleshooting and testing of electrical and electronic systems;

***Project Manager***

Position Summary:

The candidate is expected to be proficient in providing project leadership, subcontractor & installation coordination, technical & commissioning guidance while ensuring excellent project communication and closeout for all assigned control and security system projects. Essentially, the Project Manager is to manage all aspects of any and all Control and Security system projects assigned to them. The Project Manager is expected to meet performance standards as set by the Vice President of Operations and to be a professional self-starter able to develop a dependable track record in project management. Communication being key, the Project Manager is responsible for maintaining regular contact with various Team Members. The position is also responsible for all financial aspects of all phases and activities for his/her projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for financial success of all assigned projects.
  2. Establish and maintain project schedules
  3. Attend all required project meetings
  4. Understand, review and monitor project estimates, scope of work, budgets, and plans & specs
  5. Read and understand contracts issued to us by our customers, sign and execute to the terms and conditions
  6. Acquire pricing from subcontractors as required. Additionally, develop and implement all subcontractor contracts & requirements.
  7. Communication with all project related teams (i.e Internal team, customers, end user, subcontractors, etc.) on all aspects of project related issues
  8. Accountable for monitoring and managing all aspects of project execution for quality, correctness and efficiency
  9. Provide all drawings, scope of work and related documentation to appropriate team members
  10. Review and release all material orders for projects

  1. This position requires a minimum of 5 year project management experience and the ability to demonstrate practical understanding of electrical, electronic, control and mechanical drawings and schematics, to include reading, analyzing and interpretation of such drawings.
  2. Strong history and experience with HVAC controls, Building Automation Controls & Integration projects is a requirement (Security and Fire systems is a plus).
  3. Any experience specifically with Alerton, Johnson Controls, Distech, Siemens Control Systems is a HUGE PLUS!
  4. A proven ability to operate electrical, electronic and mechanical test and installation equipment including power tools.
  5. The candidate must be able to understand, troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical control systems.
  6. Candidate should possess the mental and mechanical aptitude and ability to design and visualize complex objects in 3 dimensional form, while interrupting the same on design documents.
  7. Must be very detailed oriented in his/her work ethics.
  8. Possess excellent written and verbal communication, listening and interpersonal skills along with the ability to accurately and calmly handle multiple priorities with interruptions and still meet deadlines.

***AutoCAD Operator***

Position Summary:

The primary function of the CAD Operator is to design project documentation in the form of control drawings, floor plans, presentation drawings, and asbuilt documents. The CAD Operator must be a creative, self-starter, detail oriented individual with good organizational and communication skills. This position is the key to maintaining accurate and quality drawings/documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare layouts, drawings and designs according to engineering specifications using AutoCAD software.
  • Analyze designs and confers with engineering & necessary team members to resolve details which may not have been completely defined.
  • Work with engineers regarding the review & accuracy of the design, drafting standards and documentation.
  • Adhere to the existing company file management structure for all AutoCAD drawings & projects (both electronic and hard copies).
  • Provide direction and guidance to less experienced CAD Operators.
  • Coordinate w/ the engineer to obtain floor plans in AutoCAD format for current projects.
  • Continue to streamline the “design to CAD” process and implement time saving techniques.
  • Understand and manipulate AutoCAD features such as blocks, sheet sets, X-refs, title blocks & templates, modelspace & paperspace, import & convert files (and familiarity with other revisions of AutoCAD).
  • Complete the asbuilt drawings at the end of the project.
  • Keep informed on AutoCAD and related technologies and advancements.
  • Understand and follow existing workflow practices for the company.

Occasional travel will be required to attend sales / technical training schools and trade shows. These may be for up to one week at a time. Other opportunities to travel exist for seminars and trade shows. There may be a few evening functions to attend to enhance your professional career. You may be expected to join the National Association of ASIS (Louisville Chapter) or ASHRAE (American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers).
